Weather

The weather is mostly warm and hot here, with long summers and not so cold winters. Jeddah features a tropical arid climate. July is the hottest month here, but also the best time to swim in the sea with an average temperature of 32°C (90°F) and the coldest is January at 23°C (73°F). Rainfall is sparse here and usually occurs in November and December. Thunderstorms are common in winter and dust storms mostly happen in summers.

Local Language

The official language of the UAE is Arabic. However, in Jeddah region the distinctive speech pattern is called the Hejazi dialect, it is among the most recognizable accents within the Arabic language. Plus, English is widely spoken here, and most shops, hotels and commercial businesses deal with their clients in English.

Car Rental

The hot climate makes car rentals and hiring very popular in this area.  You can hire the car and explore the city if you have your passport and a valid international driving license or a temporary local license for car rental.

Getting Around

Buses: Local buses also operate here and can be used as a mode of transportation to make things more budget-friendly.
Taxis: Taxis are the most popular and convenient way of travelling in this city and seeing things around.  Some good taxi companies are Careem, Mondo Ride, TaxiPixi and Uber. You can download their apps and reserve as well as pay for these taxis through the apps. Here you can choose the type of car you wish to ride. Taxi fares are reasonable in this area. You can even hail a local cab on the streets here. Taxi drivers are legally required to have and abide by to go by meter.
Car Rentals: You can hire a car here with a valid passport and international driving license. Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia.
Jeddah Metro: Under construction and expected to operate by 2020.
